Heather Lang is a multifaceted artist with over 25 years of professional experience spanning Broadway, Film/TV, commercial, experimental, fashion, opera, and dance. This vast range influences the way she directs and choreographs.
Her first film, "Simulation", she created with her childhood best friend, Purdie Baumann. "Simulation" received a Jury’s Choice Award from the Thomas Edison Film Festival, was nominated for Best Art Direction & Best Music in the London Fashion Film Festival, and won Best Choreography and Best Fashion in the Canadian International Fashion Film Festival. It was an official selection in the New York International Shorts Festival, Portland Dance Film Festival, ADF's movies by movers, and deadCenter Film Festival. They are featured in Directors Notes and a Forbes article.
Over the years, she directed and wrote a student film, #Blessed, and a music video for an original song written by Eleanor Bauer and herself, named, Trash Is Fierce. She also wrote and performed a two person show, in collaboration with Eleanor Bauer, "The Heather Lang Show by Eleanor Bauer and Vice Versus", that travelled throughout Europe and NYC. She created and performed a solo work in NYC: RIP/Career Transitions for Dancers. She co-choreographed and performed with Jason Parsons in the short dance film *Artifice,* directed by Kate Harpootlian. She co-choreographed, devised, and performed a principal role for the recent immersive show "Life and Trust".
She is currently developing more film projects. Femme Florale was funded by the Queens Art Fund and will make its debut in early fall 2025. She is also creating a NYC dance show that spawned from Simulation.
Heather teaches as a guest artist throughout the country and has been a guest speaker at UT Austin and Chicago College of Performing Arts, Roosevelt University She is on faculty at Momen (Al Blackstone), Protege Movement & The Bridge (Stacey Tookey), Steps Conservatory, Steps guest Spotlight Series, & Peridance. She is Level 1 Gyrotonic Method Certified. She received her BFA in dance from NYU Tisch School of the Arts. Continuing Education at The School of Visual Arts (SVA): Directing & How to Make Film.
