kat morrill

Kathryn Morrill, known to nearly everyone as Kat danced her way into Sally McDermott Dance Center (SMDC) in Auburn, MA at four years of age. Many years later, taking quite a leap, Kat became the owner of SMDC (in early 2025).

In between those milestones, she continued her dance training in Massachusetts as well as Philadelphia where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree of Fine Arts in Jazz Dance Performance at the University of the Arts in 2009.

While earning her degree she was honored to study under professionals such as Ronen Koresh, Scott Jovovich, Zane Booker, and Robert Burden.

An original member of Xhale Dance Company, Kat performed at the well-known Fringe Festival in Philadelphia. After graduation, she danced and choreographed with Project Moshen, another Philadelphia dance company. Also, while located in Philadelphia, she choreographed routines performed at the baseball games of the Philadelphia Phillies.

Upon returning to Massachusetts in 2011, she began teaching and choreographing at SMDC, receiving many choreography awards and high scores for her routines. She continues to teach and choreograph while taking on her new position as owner, and looks forward to many more years of creating movement!
